CA CPT Depreciation Accounting Updated Study Material

The old AS 6 Depreciation Accounting has been replaced with AS 10 Property, Plant and Equipment. Hence this update is important for CA CPT students who are going to appear for June 2017 exams.

ICAI has revised the contents of Chapter 5 of Depreciation Accounting in the Study Material of Section A: Fundamentals of Accounting in line with the new Accounting Standard.

Therefore, students who are studying from Nov. 2015 or earlier edition of study material are required to follow the updated study material regarding this chapter.

IDT Quick Revision Capsule by ICAI for CA Final

In this post you can find a link to download IDT Revision Capsule. This capsule was printed in the Student Journal of ICAI for April 2017.

SFM Chapter Wise Weightage of Marks from Past 13 Attempts

It is said that past paper analysis is useless in CA exams. However, I find them to be useful. Although we might not be able to predict the chapter-wise weightage which will be asked in our attempt. The analysis certainly teaches us a thing or two.

SFM is one of the two practical papers in CA Final Group 1. Here's the chapter-wise analysis of the past 13 exams from Nov 10 to Nov 16:

This analysis has been done in two tables. One table shows the analysis of the entire 120 marks paper. Another table shows the analysis of theory question which comes in the paper.

Indirect Tax Amendments for IPCC May 2017

The Taxation paper of IPCC comprises of two parts - direct tax and indirect tax. Both sections are of 50 marks. However, there is no segregation in their questions. This means that the question paper contains mixed questions from both DT and IDT.

There have been some amendments in Indirect Taxation for CA IPCC. The latest amendments are asked by ICAI in every attempt. For a subject like Tax it is important to be updated with the relevant amendments.

Amendments in Income Tax for IPCC May 2017

The Finance Act applicable for your attempt is Finance Act, 2016. So you need to be updated with the amendments which have been made in Income Tax due to the FA, 2016. These become important for May 2017 IPCC Tax Paper.

The Direct Tax portion of the paper comprises of 50 marks. The amendments also carry a considerable weightage each attempt. So it is important that you cover these before the exam.

ICAI issues a supplementary covering the relevant amendments. However, it becomes difficult to study from it if you have not studied ICAI's material before.

Service Tax Memory Codes Notes for IPCC & Final

Service tax comes for 50 marks in the CA Final exams and for around 25-30 marks in CA IPCC. This shows how important service tax is for the IDT paper. It is also considered a make or break portion of Indirect Taxes.

Summary notes are a must for SRT because if done properly, it is one of the most scoring topics in the IDT exam.

It is worth mentioning that these notes are not amended as per Finance Act, 2016 which is applicable for May 2017 examination. Although, it has been amended as per FA, 2015. So majority of the portions can still be revised using these pictorial Service Tax notes.

Negative List - Sec. 66D Summary for IPCC & Final

Negative List is one of the most important sections of Service Tax. Often students find it kind of difficult to cover it along with Mega Exemption Notification.

To remove such difficulty, I am providing a link of summary notes containing Negative List along with the related Mega Exemptions.

Revised SA 610 for IPCC & Final May 2017

SA 610 has been revised. The amended SA 610 notes are being made available for the students. The notes will be beneficial for both IPCC and Final students.

SA 610 may be asked in Auditing paper for CA IPCC and Advanced Auditing paper for CA Final.

The credits for these notes go to the respective author. I am only posting this to help the CA students in their exam preparation.

ITSM Important Questions for IPCC May 2017

Information Technology (IT) and Strategic Management (SM) is the last paper of CA IPCC. This paper is completely theory based.
